• The Loch Ness
The Loch Ness is among the most popular and most visited site thanks to its mythical dweller, the Loch Ness Monster. Here, thousands of people hope to spot the beloved Nessie.
The Loch Ness also have the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre where you can learn more about the monster and look at their handsome display of Loch Ness photos.
• Inverness
Inverness is the capital of the Scottish Highlands. Here, you can shop, watch a movie, or enjoy their shows and events. The Inverness also has the 14th century Cawdor Castle (where according to urban myth, a ghost in a blue velvet dress dwells) and the Tomatin Whiskey Distillery. You can take a dip at the beach at Narin, or maybe even do dolphin watching.
• Red Squirrels
These small, red squirrels are now on the brink of extinction. These red squirrels can be seen in the Highlands, particularly at Carrbridge’s Landmark Forest Theme Park. The theme park offers fun water rides and trails, perfect for the whole family.
• Ptarmigan
Ptarmigan is Great Britain’s highest elevated restaurant, rising around 3,600 feet above sea level. It is located at Cairngorm Mountain. To go here, you can travel by road from Aviemore, which is about 9 miles away.
