If there’s one city in Denmark that encompasses art, film, theatre, and other very moving highlights, it’s Aarhus, the second largest city of the country. It’s also the youngest city so you can imagine how fast it’s flourishing. It is also a University district as there are nearly 35,000 students alone in the University of Aarhus and there are a total of 25 educational and research institutions. Because of this, Aarhus is considered to be home to some of the most intelligent people in Denmark. 13% of the country’s population are currently taking higher education courses.
What sets Aarhus apart from the other cities is that it was founded by the Vikings in the 8th century. The Vikings are said to have settled in an area where the Cathedral rises today. You will enjoy four main things in Aarhus: attractions, history and culture, arts and architecture and also nature. You will find the Moesgard museum where the Graballe man is displayed.
Aros Aarhus art museum is also fantastic as they host international exhibitions. Another attraction is the Zen garden, which is very Japanese inspired. As for their very cultural sights, tourists will surely be in awe of the churches such as the Cathedral and Vor Frue, and also the Marselisborg Castle. You will fall in love with the Aros galleries and crafts. This is will you’ll find some of the world’s very admirable art pieces.
And when your feet begin to hurt from all the touring, you can relax and enjoy a gastronomic journey in French and Danish cuisine at Restaurant Rene. If you want something exotic, there is a South American beef house called Gaucho.
