Africa

Known as the second most populous region next to Asia, many have this negative connotation of Africabeing a center of criminal activity. Partly true if you decide to become a lure to harassers, but traveling in this region will surely be unforgettable in terms of its beauty. You will forget your negative notions upon setting your foot on its vivid dry soil that immediately turn into mud during the rainy season if you chose to travel at the wrong time. Africa is split into two by the equator, making its climate as diverse as its inhabitants, but it is recommended that you visit between October to March, as it spans the spring- summer season of its four sub-parts. Language won’t be a problem as the countries spanning this region are a melting pot of different languages. English and French are languages of the trade, but it will be very useful to purchase a language book containing conversational Swahili, the language of the natives, to communicate more effectively. Carry cash and dress simple.

Plan your travel effectively to avoid missing the prime spots. Pack on tons of duct tape, light clothes and towels as you will be touring a lot. However, be ready with thick jackets in case of sudden, very cold rains. In Tunisia, you can see the desert where Star Wars was filmed. Egypt is well known for the pyramids and Sphinx in Giza, plus the Nile River. Morocco is the center of festivals and belly dancers; be sure to buy exclusive hand-made rug-work. In the east, you can tour the Safari in Kenya or Tanzania, where you can also see Mount Kiljanmaro. Appreciate watching gorillas in Uganda or the lemurs in Madagascar, or be part of history by touring Ethiopia where the Ark of the Covenant lies. Experience the lush Sahara desert, mosques at Mali, or Ghana and on Île de Gorée at the west. Down south, be adventurous by taking on the Zambezi River rapids, trekking on Botswana and Zimbabwe, then top your journey by going to the cosmopolitan cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town and cooling down after your wild African adventure.
