Cameroon is located in east Africa. It’s a great destination for people wanting to see the beautiful topography that this country has to offer. English and French are the country’s official languages with French being the predominate language. The country’s geography consists of a variety of rain forests, mountains, desert plains, and high plateaus. Traveling to Cameroon is not for the faint of heart. It is located in a tough neighborhood surrounded by some problematic countries. But for the more adventurous type that like to go off the beaten path, Cameroon offers a wealth of activities and beautiful destinations to keep the spirit of adventure alive.
Cameroon is an interesting place to visit because of its diversity. Cameroon’s people include ancient tribal kingdoms, forest-dwelling pygmies and Muslim pastoralists, making it one of the most culturally diverse countries on the African continent. Just as diverse as the people of Cameroon is the geography. For hikers, there is Mt. Cameroon. The highest peak in West Africa, it’s an active volcano that stands over 4095 meters and makes a challenging expedition for people looking to confront it. There are numerous photo opportunities abound in Cameroon. The coastline offers beautiful beaches around Limbé and in the north of the country is Kribi, boasting Cameroon’s most famous national park, Waza National Park. Here you will find numerous elephants, lion, giraffe, antelope and birdlife, in addition to some of the richest flora and fauna found in Africa. Further north are the rolling grass fields of the Ring Road surrounded by the dry, rocky Mandara Mountains.
When tired of all that nature expedition, visit Yaoundé, the capital city of Cameroon. Here you will find the shops, markets, hotels and restaurants that help make modern life so convenient.
