Brazil is the largest country in South America. Famous for its annual Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro, its football tradition and the untouched wilderness of the Amazon rainforest, there are many things to see and do in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the more popular cities in Brazil. It’s famous for its natural attractions, its carnival celebrations, Bossa Nova, samba, and hotel-lined tourist beaches, such as Copacabana, Leblon, and Ipanema. There are also famous landmarks to see such as the giant statue of Christ, known as Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain, considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Rio de Janiero is considered to be the Carnival Capital of the World. The most famous being the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro that takes place just a few days before Lint, attracting more than half a million tourists. The carnival parade is filled with floats and people from various samba schools. The carnival allows samba schools to compete with other rival schools to see who builds the best floats and costumes representing the school’s themes. There are typically six to eight floats and thousands of participants from each entry. For a very vibrant and lively time, this carnival is not to be missed.

The diversity reflected by the country’s mix of native Portuguese, Amerindians, Africans, Italians, Germans, Spaniards, Poles, Syrians, Japanese and Lebanese among others, has created a national cooking style marked by the preservation of regional differences.
