Before 1960 when it was renamed, it was known to be the Kenya African Union. The colors symbolizes the black majority, red for the blood that was shed during the struggle for independence, and the color green for the nation’s land. The color white fimbriation was added after a while. It signifies peace. The colors black, red and white traditionally is a Maasai shield and two spears symbolize the protection of all the things that is catastrophic.
